Joe Gerber is proud to announce that he has embarked on a new venture where he will be consulting and building programming for local educational and community organizations and corporate entities focused on issues of equity and identity.
Young people in our communities and around our nation have a story to tell. Throughout his work in education and advocacy, Joe has come to believe that the barriers our young people face can be eliminated or drastically re-imagined by creating spaces that promote equity and empower them to see their many identities as blessings, not curses. By changing the narratives of how they view the obstacles that stand in their way, we can create a world that sees the beauty in everyone and promotes individuality, uniqueness, and the freedom to live authentically.
Joe has partnered with several local school districts and community organizations (both formally and informally) to provide a wide variety of meaningful programs including sensitivity and informational trainings centered around sexuality and gender identity, presentations on student affairs and student success specific to special education and students belonging to underrepresented communities. He has also opened professional development and institute days for educators and support staff. Joe’s programs have been as simple as sharing his story with students and their families affected by similar barriers to his own or as structured as a presentation and activity for local school districts’ special education or other student-facing departments. The possibilities are endless and Joe would love the opportunity to work with you and your organization to build potentially life-changing programming for both those who work with young people and the young people they serve.
